Mental Health Nursing Unit Manager

Are you a high level experienced Mental Health and AoD Clinical Leader, A/NUM or Senior Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) looking for career progression and/or a sea change?

  • Wallace Street Recruitment is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly skilled Mental Health RN for this newly created role, for the Clinical Lead Manager of this brand new, 18 bed Mental Health Unit in regional Australia
  • Working within this newly built Mental Health and AoD Unit, you will report directly to the General Manager/Director of Nursing for the operational management, clinical service provision and, strategic and business development matters
  • If you are organised and passionate about mental health and AoD, teamwork and outcomes of care, this new role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in establishing your team and work with an innovative executive, psychiatrists and allied health staff, focused on high standards of mental health and AoD care delivery and continually striving to improve performance
  • The successful candidate will be involved with various stakeholders and committees for the delivery of high standards of mental health and AoD services
  • This is an excellent opportunity to join a committed team to cater to mental health and AoD needs across the region and within the Northern Territory



Essential Criteria:

  • Current AHPRA Registration - Registered Nurse
  • 5 years of senior mental health and AoD experience - a highly experienced clinician
  • Post graduate certificate and/or Diploma in Mental Health/AoD
  • Demonstrated leadership accountability
  • A thorough understanding of ACHS principles, processes and procedures
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including computer skills



Desirable Criteria:

  • Leadership and management qualification and/or experience in a nursing management role - for example A/NUM level
  • Experience in project work



Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong organisational skills with initiative, problem solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Enthusiastic motivated leadership and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment of client/patient needs, with planning and management of resources to meet those needs
  • Client/patient focused approach to service provision
  • Enjoys autonomy, self-direction and accountability for personal practice
  • Enjoys innovative mental health and AoD nursing practice and manages this to achieve best outcomes
  • Understanding of rostering and applicable HR legislation relating to nursing
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team approach
