MENTAL HEALTH - NURSE UNIT MANAGER

  • Wallace Street Recruitment is looking for an enthusiastic Mental Health AHPRA Registered Nurse for this Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) role.
  • We are seeking an experienced mental health nurse who is passionate about leading the team in providing consumer-centred care and to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the facility.
About the Role
  • As the Nursing Unit Manager, you will provide operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management of the area and coordinate the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based.
  • In addition, you will be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels.
  • The facility is a voluntary inpatient facility and offers a range of mental health treatments and services including outpatient psychiatrist appointments, hospital admissions as well as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). The unit cares for patients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and other general mental health concerns.
  • As the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) you will undertake direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to members of the nursing team, with 11 direct reports.
  • In this NUM role, you will report directly to a very experienced and supportive executive team, comprising of the Director of Nursing and the CEO.
  • The NUM role is permanent fulltime, based in Sydney, NSW.

Essential Criteria:
  • AHPRA Nurses Registration – unrestricted
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role and/or previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
  • A degree in the relevant specialty area and/or post-graduate qualifications preferred
  • Highly developed clinical skills
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • A high degree of computer literacy skills
  • Knowledge of compliance with the ACQSHC National Standards
  • The ability to work cohesively with a team
  • Sound knowledge in labour management and HR management experience
  • A National Criminal History Record Check and a Working With Children Check
  • Australian work rights
